UNDP ART INITIATIVE

In 2005, UNDP launched the ART Initiative (Articulation of Territorial Networks for Sustainable Human Development) to promote a dialogue between territories, foster multilevel governance and support locally owned governance and development strategies through decentralized, triangular and South-South cooperation modalities.

Locally, UNDP ART supports participatory processes geared to the identification of locally development priorities and their implementation at the territorial level.

Nationally, UNDP ART promotes inter-sectorial national plans and policies on local development, fostering coordination among the different Ministries while promoting the involvement of territorial and international institutions.

Globally, UNDP ART —thanks to the wealth of experience and know-how of its partners— identifies and disseminates innovative practices while advocating for a territorial approach to development. Through the ART approach and methodology, UNDP provides a programmatic, administrative and operational framework linking local, national and international levels for effective development cooperation.
